It is with great sadness that we announce as of December 1st, 2014, Bruno Bakery/Pasticceria Bruno will be closing its doors and relocating to Staten Island. For over 41 YEARS Bruno Bakery has been serving the community and beyond. We would like to thank our landlord for the opportunity to make this work, but since Sept 11, 2001 it has been a continuing struggle to stay in business. Times have changed in our industry and we can no longer financially stay. New York City and some of their agencies make it impossible to survive. The sentimental attachment that we, as a family, have had for Bruno Bakery has driven us to think with our hearts and not our brains. Bruno Bakery will continue its legacy in our other two locations in Staten Island (where we serve our well known pastries as well as Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and weekend Brunch), where we will continue to serve anyone within the boroughs to enjoy our famous products that has made us strive over the years!

All of my professional life I have pride myself on sharing and giving to my fellow bakers , pastry chefs and students by teaching and giving away all of my knowledge that I have acquired thru continuing education from other professional mentors .
This tuesday june 25, 2013 ,I received a REGISTERED LETTER from Mr. Domenique Ansel's (D A BAKERY) lawyer informing me that I was violating some outrageous copyrights law.
About 3 weeks ago , I had attempted to try and produced ( It is in every chef's nature ) a product that the whole city of New York was buzzing about "A CRONUT " as a compliment to Mr. Ansel's creation ( not having any ideas that he had it trademarked) and placed on my facebook page as some of you have noticed . Well the letter that MR. Ansel's lawyer send me was basically informing me to stop producing the "Cronut " by july 1st , or face a lawsuit , WOW!!!and take off the pictures from my facebook page , insinuating , that my production of 13 Cronuts will put his client out of business WOW !!! what a douche !!!!
So to Mr. Ansel I say this , where would you be if all of our ancestors would have copyrighted words like " MACARONS , MADALEINES , FINANCIERS , CROISSANTS , BEIGNETS , OPERA , SACHER , TIRAMI-SU , NAPOLEONS , LOBSTER TAILS , CANNOLI , CUPCAKES , RED VELVET , BLACK FOREST , MERINQUE , CANNOLI , SFOGLIATELLE ( now that is something you should learn how to make ) OR EVEN DONUT".
SO at the end , you have lost a professional supporter , a friend . A simple telephone call would have suffice and would have not jeopardize our relationship . I would love to start a "CRONUT WAR " with you , but you are not worth the fight , and not over a F——G PIECE OF FRIED CROISSANT DOUGH , CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHAT THE FUZZ IS ALL ABOUT .You make it sound like you have found A CURE FOR CANCER .
I ENCOURAGE ALL OF YOU TO REPOST THIS , THE CHALLENGE OF RUNNING A BAKERY IS ALREADY DIFFICULT WE DO NOT NEED AHOLES LIKE MR. CRONUT TO ENHANCE THE EXPERIENCE . I SALUTE HIS UNPROFESSIONAL STUPIDITY AND HIS INCREDIBLE SENSE OF INSECURITY .I HOPE THAT YOU ARE MORE SECURE IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE THAn YOU ARE IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL ONE . TO YOUR LAWYER I SAY I HOPE I STILL HAVE MY FREEDOM OF SPEECH , SINCE YOU ARE TAKING AWAY MY FREEDOM OF ENTERPRISE .
